Nice to know I’m not alone; loads of people fainted in UK cinemas after watching Saw III, which was released here last week. Looks like I’m not the only squeamish person on this little island, anyway
The BBC news story is here.
My mum was talking to me recently about the time I fainted in the [...]

My flickr favourites

I wanted to rave about some of my favourite photographers on flickr – the lot below is just a handful of some of the lovely photos on there. Go and have a look!
1. couleur, 2. Risen, 3. Another velvet rose…sorry couldn’t resist!, 4. always one foot on the ground, 5. Caderno das estrelas [...]
Vets are nice

Moon returned from the vets this morning in a clear plastic ‘cone’ collar. As a result he can no longer manage stairs, door ways or sharp turns. It’s heartbreaking to watching him ponying around the house, picking his feet up neatly with each step just in case he walks off a cliff or something.
Since my [...]

Just what you don’t need when you are trying to cover the cost of food by selling on eBay: a cat with a nasty deep long wound on his leg that has to be seen by the vet first thing tomorrow. Hundreds of pounds in vets bills which we can’t afford. Can this day get [...]
Little Deaths
Posted in People, Sad on October 23, 2006 | 1 Comment »
The process of losing a friend is, I think, not one big event but many little deaths. They are not always anyones fault, they just happen. The first time you go a day without thinking of the person, then a week. The time you forget their birthday, or what their favourite colour is. The time [...]
‘No words’

I found this moving link on the BBC website just now, about the wife of a British hostage who has just been freed in Nigeria. He was reported to be dead, and then phoned her up.
“I was told that he was dead. I’m just ecstatic, I couldn’t believe it was him on the phone. There’s [...]
New masthead and splash page
Posted in Site stuff on October 21, 2006 | 2 Comments »
Last night I stayed up til about 2am fiddling with my blog, and it now sports a dashing new purple masthead. I should really start saving the different ones I’ve used, and put them on a page somewhere. Anyway, this one is a bit more autumnal and in keeping with the season.
I also created a [...]
The Bedroom Project

I just found a really cool set over at flickr called The Bedroom Project. It’s an attempt to capture the atmosphere and spirit of young peoples personal spaces before they go away to college and all the precious memories and objects are disbanded or lost. I really like the idea and I’ll be having a [...]
Character & Plot Realism

A classic example of why I love the NaNoWriMo forums – the Character and Plot Realism Q&A one is bursting with fantastic titles like:
If You Have Your Tongue Cut Out, Can You Still Swallow?
I need a fatal disease!
What kind of stunt would kill you AND the horse you were riding?
Is it possible for people not [...]
Last nights dreams

Last night I dreamt with clarity and precision, but the dreams weren’t comfortable.
The one that sticks in my mind was about a friend who I’ve posted about quite a bit, of late. Our friendship has been pushed to the limit recently, and I sometimes wonder whether it isn’t completely broken and I just haven’t noticed. [...]
